PHYSICAL THERAPY
The main goals of physical therapy in the home are to restore the patients’ highest
level of function and to help the patient learn how to safely manage their environment
again. Where limitations exist, their caregiver may be trained on how to safely provide this
care for them.
Patients receiving physical therapy at home should expect to perform
an exercise routine to improve strength and motion, practice walking
and using appropriate assistive devices,
perform balance exercises and practice transferring safely.
They may also receive specialized treatment for pain
management, and will be evaluated for equipment needs.
Physical therapy will prepare the patient for living as
independently as possible based on their current condition
